Memory Verse: (Psalm 119:105)– “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
B.I.B.L.E. This is one true cliché! In the bible, God has given his most loved creation, his people, his will. In it, we learn about our Savior Jesus Christ and how to live in harmony in our journey of faith. His bountiful flow of mercy and grace cannot be contained. His word, the word of life, his revealed will is inspired by his Spirit. The word is our guide to life eternally. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
In the scriptures, we study the lives of God’s people. It is through their experiences that the power of his authority is made known. The life of these great people continue to give us hope in the promises of God. Not only do we see the mighty hand of God, but it is equally important that we understand the deceitful devices of the enemy. Temptation does not stop because we are saved. Taking the time to study the scriptures, we will learn to cling more to the hope of salvation that is given in the name of Jesus Christ. One consistent lesson in the scriptures is that God commands our total obedience. Only, he is worthy of our praises. (I Samuel 15:22; Acts 5:29)
There are very profound lessons to learn from the experiences of the people of God. From Job, we learn that God controls the cords of blessings. From Sarah, we learn that there is nothing too hard for God. From Joseph, we learn the spirit of forgiveness. From Judas, we learn to surrender all to God. We must not give way for the enemy to attack. From Saul, we learn that it is far better to obey God than to make the humblest of sacrifice. As the branch constantly draws the sap from the living vine, so are we to cling to Jesus, and receive from him by faith the strength and perfection of his character that transforms are lives. (John 15)
Jesus said to “Search the scriptures, for in them in ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” Salvation must not be taken for granted. We must not neglect to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Salvation becomes a way of life in which we must continue until Christ returns. This is why he gives us Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. The word of God instructs us on how to live a godly life. By his Spirit, he speaks to the core of our hearts. (John 5:32; Philippians 2:12)
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be thoroughly perfect unto all good works.” Profitable as applied in this scriptures means that every word of God is good for our soul. It is to our benefit to study, to know, and to accept the scriptures. (II Timothy 3:16)
Profitable for doctrine. The word is given that we will know what God requires of us. Everything we need God has provided in his word. The word teaches us about the creation of man, the fall of man, and the redemption of man. The word teaches us the commandments, how to love God and how to love each other. When we choose to do the will of God, we will know the doctrine. The will of God is to accept the whole word. God is spiritual. Therefore, we must realize that it takes a spiritual mindset to understand the word. We can only understand the doctrine by relying on the Holy Spirit. (John 7:16,17; I Corinthians 2:10)
Profitable for reproof. “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” The word is given that we may be aware of our human frailties. The word convicts us of sin. The word is honey to our mouth, but when we let the word take root in our heart it becomes bitter. It reveals the will of God and we see the need for a spiritual cleaning. (Job 14:1; Psalm 119:11)
Profitable for correction. “For whom the Lord loveth he chaseneth, and scourgeth every son who he receiveth.” At times, we will suffer rebuke for the wrong that we do to learn not to yield to temptation. (Hebrews 12:6; John 8:32)
Profitable for instruction in righteousness. Instructions are detailed directions on how to get something done. The word gives details on how to live a godly life. Not on our own ability, but by the grace of God. The written word of God is active in our lives. Pray and ask Jesus for help. (Psalm 119:97-104)
In conclusion, the holy bible is cohesive and life-changing book. In prayer, we study and ask for understanding. Jesus said “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” The word sanctifies us because it tells us how to present ourselves holy and acceptable to God. Everything in it is meant for us. The books of the prophets, psalms, gospels and revelation are very important in the powerful plan of salvation. By faith, we must embrace the promises through the love of Christ until his glorious appearance. (John 17:17; Titus 2:13-14)
