Sermon Take Away

The Whole Armor of God, Part I (Ephesians 6:10-15)

Apostle Paul encouraged the Ephesian church to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. He used a very descriptive analogy of soldiers in the army of the Lord. The believer must have the knowledge of Christ to obtain power of God. The confession that Jesus Christ is his Savior puts him in position for a spiritual warfare. It is the will of Satan to attack the people of God, to destroy their very confidence of salvation in Christ. Upon acceptance of Christ as Savior, believers are enlisted in the army of God. In other words, a stand is taken that Jesus is the Son of God and by him only can he see God in peace. The solider is ready to defend in mission. He has a seat in heaven with his name, but he must endure into the end. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities. Lucifer and a third of the angels were cast out of heaven into the earth. Protection is needed against the forces that are not seen with the eyes. But evidence of these forces are seen. The spiritual armor to protect against the wiles of the devil is given to believers. Adultery, uncleanness, idolatry, and the such are just a few of his deceitful wiles. (Galatians 5:19-21)

  1. The loins girt with truth. Truth came in the person of Jesus. He is consistent, he does not change. (John 14:6) We must be in Jesus. The Father has given him the power over all things, even evil. In having the embodiment of truth, the ten commandments are the guide to living in His will. (Exodus 20:1-17)

  2. The breastplate is a signet of God. This protects the most vital organ of the human body in the spirit and in the physical: the heart. The character of a man is formed in his heart.

  3. The feet are prepared to carry the weight to deliver the gospel.
