We have come this far by faith, the way to grow close to God. As the people in the bible lived through different experiences, we shall have many experiences also. Faith is the substance of things hopes for and the evidence of things not seen. It is something you don’t see, it comes from the heart. Take a filled donut for example. The outside is hope. The inside is faith, the substance which is the tasty fillings.
“So faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” When the word is heard we are saved. Hearing grows into believing because of study. Then you start to believe. Belief is the foundation that Jesus Christ is our Savior. You have to have something to believe in. Believing turns into faith. You are depending on what you believe. You learn to depend that the word of God is real and true. Faith turns into hope. Hope is what you do not see and you put all things in God’s hands. Hearing, believing, faith, and hope are followed by works. God’s love is perfect through Jesus Christ. Our love is shown in our works.
The bible gives us the testimonies of many who were delivered by their faith. In Matthew 9:20, the woman who had an issue of blood believed if she reached out to touch the hem of Jesus garment, she would be healed. “Within herself she believed” because she had heard what Jesus had done for others. She had faith and determination. From that hour she was made whole because of her faith. We must be determined that he will deliver us.
Daniel was an amazing servant of God who was given a very high position by King Darius. The presidents and the princes requested that the king make a decree that the king only was to be worshipped. If anyone failed to obey he would be cast in the den of lions. It was reported that Daniel worshipped his God. A decree could not be rescinded. The king held respect for Daniel, as he was sore displeased, his hurt was to the core that the decree had to be carried out on Daniel. He told Daniel that his God will deliver him, Daniel 6:16. Daniel and the king had faith. The king did not sleep that night. He fasted that night and in the morning he went to Daniel. Daniel was delivered from the den of lions. We must believe at all times, in the deliverance of God. We must believe that Jesus Christ shall return. King Darius gave praise to the God of Daniel. “Faith cometh by hearing, hearing the word of God.” You heard what happened. Now we must believe that God will do the same things for us.
