Sermon Take Away: “Claim and Believe”

Scriptures: John 3:16; Hebrews 11:6; Daniel 4; John 6:47

Claim is to state that someone or something belongs to you. To believe comes from within that something is true. When it comes to God’s word we must claim and believe. The word of God tells us everything we need. How to live, how to love, how to treat others. Most of all about salvation. God claims everything, rightfully. Throughout the scriptures, he tells us that he is the Creator of all and everything belongs to him. By our breathe he claims us. Everyday we live by his mercies alone. He claims us because he loves us. He gave us the best gift of all, Jesus Christ. In him, God has claimed us as his people.

We must claim Jesus Christ as our personal savior, welcome him in your life. Believing is to believe that he is your Savior, that in him you have the victory of all things that are contrary to the will of Go. To be called the sons and daughters of God, we must accept Jesus Christ. He is our only meditator with the God of heaven. If you feel like you are lacking in understanding Jesus, pray and seek his guidance in his word. Reach out to others who have more understanding and acceptance of Jesus. Keep in mind that you are not alone. We all started somewhere in this blessed journey of faith.

No longer required are the ceremonial laws to show claim or belief in God. Those laws were necessary for such a time. But they were not sufficient. In Christ alone, we are saved. Claiming is a mental thing. Believing is to state something from within your heart. Accepting Christ is to accept the whole package. We can’t pick and choose how we will accept be saving. God claims us by his Holy Spirit. His Spirit is given to keep us in connection with Jesus.

One of the most interesting men in the bible was a pagan king, name Nebuchadnezzar. It is so amazing that the testimony of this pagan king is given a chapter in the bible. So many lessons can be learned from his life. He did not please God. The Prophet Daniel warned him of his judgment but he did not take heed. God never gives up on us. He sees something in us that others do not see or even we ourselves do not see in our own lives. The king had to become a beast for seven years to learn that no man is above God. In those seven years, true conversion to place in Nebuchadnezzar’s heart. God has no respect of person. While going through is trial, he heart was changed. To claim and believe in God must begin within the human heart. . Nebuchadnezzar learned that “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven…” When you openly speak and confess who God is to you, that is your claim and the expression of your belief. We are not saved by our own righteousness. We are saved by the mercies of God.

Jesus has promised us a reward of eternal life, when we diligently seek God. Don’t let anyone shake your faith in Jesus. We will have challenges to what we believe. Claim and believe that you are important to God our heavenly father and to our blessed Savior Jesus Christ.
