Sermon Take Away: Don’t You Want To Go?

Scripture: Revelations 21; Hebrews 11:10

From the very beginning of creation, God intended that man live in peace and joy. But when evil entered into the heart of man, he was subjected to a life of confusion and sorrow. God’s love for man is so great that he sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ to save us. It is through Christ, we become the sons of God.

In our present life, we must pray for continual safety and thank God for all of his provisions. It is so good to know that God is Supreme, that he remains in full authority. The world is surrounded by very evil spirits who are led by the devil to steal, kill and destroy. In prayer, we ask God for strength and help. It is by way of study and acceptance that we know that life is temporary. Yet, life is very important because only in life can one accept salvation. In Revelation, a glorious city will ascend upon the earth, named new Jerusalem.

After all unrighteous people are judged and destroyed and the earth has been purified, the new Jerusalem will ascend upon the earth. The tabernacle, which was a place where God dwelled among his people, will be with men and “God himself shall be with them and be their God”. He will make us ready to be in his holy, pure and righteous presence. We will be changed from mortal to immortality. That change will only occur if we are found in the faith Christ. It is in him that we confess our faults and are restored to live a life that is pleasing to God. Truly, he is amazing. Don’t you want to go?

In the new Jerusalem there is no more death, no sorrow, no crying, no pain, or night.” Don’t you want to go? With the fall of Adam, man was destined to a life of hard labor and woman was to have pain in child bearing. All which bring forth a life of discomforts and a constant need to trust in the mercies of God. People of faith endure life discomforts because we believe in the salvation of Jesus Christ. He is our only refuge in a world where there is so much sorrow. Being in Christ makes all the difference between to joy and sorrow, hope and despair, life and death.

Death is the last enemy that will be destroyed. In the garden of Eden, God intended for man to have the very best in life. He has prepared everything for him. God continues to prepare a place for man. It is through the acceptance of Christ our sins are forgiven and he is our advocate with God. Christ is preparing a mansion for us to live upon his second return. After the judgment period of the unrighteous, God will make all things new and call us into his holy city. God’s plan for our eternal home is found in the book of Revelation, the last book of the bible.

Our life today is not our eternal home. Our just reward is to be welcomed in the holy city new Jerusalem, “whose builder and maker is God”.

God will make a new heaven and new earth. Those of us who are judged righteously before Christ, will become immortal, pure, and all good. So as we continue our journey in life, embrace all of the promises of God. In our present life, we must pray and trust God for daily peace and joy in the midst of so much trouble that is in the world and in our own daily lives. However, in eternal life, we will have everlasting peace and joy with no interruptions of any kind of trouble in the glorious city called new Jerusalem. We will forever enjoy being in the very presence of God our Father and Jesus Christ our Savior. Don’t you want to go there!
