Sermon Take Away “Faith From Within”

I Samuel 30; Romans 12:3

God has given us a measure of faith to believe in him as the Creator of all things. Faith is paramount in the life of every believer. At times, it is hard to explain. But simply, faith is to trust in God.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He was a psalmist, a shepherd and a leader of Israel. He was not exempt from enemies, trouble or grief. His life is such an inspiration to bible students because he knew to turn to God for all things. While David and his men were absent, the Amalekites took captive their wives, sons, daughters and burned the city Ziklag. David and his men were in great distress. “Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.” To add to David’s sorrow, the people wanted to stone him because of their grief.

In Christ, we understand that God knows all things. Every blessing, every trial, every experience are meant for a purpose in our lives. We may not understand why. It is in those times that faith is in movement. In faith, we understand that God has a plan that is beyond human comprehension.

David did not remain in sore distress. “but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” Faith from within will help you to realize that all is not lost in the Lord. Faith from within will let you know that God is greater than the present distress. Faith from within draws you in close relationship with your Lord. After he encouraged himself in the Lord his God, he inquired of the Lord as to what to do.

Faith is what we need to get a response from the Lord in times of trouble. It directs us to spend all of energy seeking his mercies and guidance. We are all given a measure of faith. Continue to use this wonderful gift that God has freely given.

May God bless us all.
