Scripture: Hebrews 10:38; Matthew 17:14-21
When we trust in God, we demonstrate a faith. It is faith, which allows us to believe to the saving of the soul. In other words, our soul is saved because we believe in the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 11 is the classic faith chapter about the men and women of God who lived in faith by the promises of God. “But without faith it is impossible to please him…” In faith, they were persuaded and embraced the word of God. Persuasion occurs when the word of God is accepted. Then the word that we believe is embraced, we hold on to all that God tells us.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the disciples were called to heal a demon possessed son, but they could not. They asked Christ why could they not heal. Jesus responded because of their unbelief. Jesus did not reprimand the disciples for little faith. He reprimanded the disciples because of their unbelief. Belief is required. We must trust and confidence in our God. If they had faith, the grain of mustard seed, that could have move mountains. Mustard seed is a small garden seed that grows to be larger than other garden trees.
Faith is not based on the size, but on the strength and pureness of our belief. We need faith that is not mixed with doubt, fear and unbelief. Faith is planted in the acceptance of Jesus as our Savior and that God is Supreme of above all.
Faith is a personal experience with Christ everyday. Pray that God will continue to bless your faith to the saving of your soul. The foundation of faith is to believe God. “For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
