Sermon Take Away: “God is Good”

Luke 18:18, 19; Exodus 33:19; I Chronicles 16:34

God is good and all the time God is good. In the gospel, when the ruler called Jesus good, he corrected him with, “none is good, save one, that is God.” Good is his nature. He is righteous, just and morally excellent.

The goodness of God was given in creation. Everything he made was good. The commandments are holy, just and good. All things that are associated with him have his touch. There is never a time that he is not good. Moses requested to see his goodness. We don’t even have to ask. God just gives us his goodness in his new mercies every morning. His goodness remains before us even when evil is present. Look up and see his display of his goodness in the beautiful blue sky, with droplets of clouds.

The goodness of God is in the redemption of humanity. He held his plan for forty-two generations to bring forth the Savior of the world. Jesus Christ, the Messiah was born that we may become good. It is only through his blood and the acceptance of him as our Lord and Savior, that we will see just how good God is.

When we acknowledge his goodness, we are prompted to him thanks. “Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.” Thank him even for trials and disappointments, as well as good things. It is easy to give thanks for his blessings. But when you can thank him for those difficult days, then you fully see and understand his goodness. Remember his goodness never leaves him. There is nothing in your life that he does not know about. His ways are not like ours. The good that we do, will never measure up to his goodness. God is good all the time!
