Scripture: John 16:33; Psalm 34:14; Numbers 6:22-27
What does peace do to our mind and body? It is a feeling of contentment. Deep down you know that everything and everyone will be okay. It is something that we ask for everyday. The word of God is peace. It is given to guide us to peace that we will trust in God. His peace is obtainable. We all need peace. There will be less trouble, hatred and all things that are contrary to the love of God and Christ.
Activities such as yoga and exercise do not give peace. Peace is found within. Begin with the word of God. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.” Jesus spoke that in the world we will have trouble, but we must be of a good cheer. Get to know Christ because he is our peace. He knows your cares, but he wants to feel you come to him. In seeking his peace, you exercise faith in his being and his promises.
Psalm 34:14, “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” David had went through a lot. His psalms have references to peace in God. He knew that everything was in the hands of God. John 14:25-37 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you…” The world will give you peace that will fail. But Jesus give peace that is true and will not fail. His peace is that he will be with you.
We need peace all the time. In times of battle hold your peace. Paul gave salutations and benedictions of peace. We must be content and carry ourselves like Christ is within us. This is a personal journey and the assurance of his presence is a must for us. Peace is the first request we seek for in prayer. Peace to get through difficult days. Peace for guidance. Take a step back and analyze it. We will then know how to respond. Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Trusting is a huge part to have the peace of God. Thank God for Jesus. This whole world need Jesus. With so much emotions, people don’t know want to do. The answer is Jesus. He is who we need.
When we receive this contentment there is a feeling of happiness and relief of stress. All doubts and fears are cast aside. That is peace. Peace makes you wiser. Peace is a fruit of the spirit. It becomes part of us.
Jesus had peace. He had no fear of his enemies. He held his peace to fulfill the will of his father’s business. He gave up his spirit and died for our present and eternal peace. It is through him that we receive this heavenly peace.
Numbers 6:22-27 – “The Lord bless thee and keep thee; The Lord make his face shine upon thee and be gracious upon thee; The Lord lift up his countenance and give thee peace.” God said that he will take care of us. He will bless us with an abundance of mercy and give us peace. He is our only peace.
The song titled “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” tells us how good of a friend God is. His presence is with us when we need him. Thank God that through the unfailing love of Jesus, He is our peace.
