Scripture: II Peter 5:7-9 ; Hebrews 11
Every day his Spirit reminds us that we not alone. Our faith is directed to God, who is omnipotent, all powerful. He graciously loves us. Through daily personal challenges and the concerns of world events, there remains with us an all-powerful spiritual confidence that he will take care of us.
The death of Jesus is so significantly powerful. He took on the burden of sins, trouble and the such. He made our every need and concern his. In turn, we open our hearts to receive his everlasting love. It is prayer that keeps us in contact with him and he responds with his spirit of peace. The old gospel hymn, Take My Hand Precious Lord, reminds me of the constant need for him. Thomas Dorsey, the writer, had experienced a tremendous family loss and found comfort to write that hymn. The words expressed a dependency to trust that God will deliver him from darkness into the light. He placed his life in the merciful hands of the Lord. One common factor that believers have shared from generations to generations is to trust God to take care of us. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” He wants us to take all things to him and be confident that he will neither forsake nor fail us.
In Hebrews 11, the elders all died in faith and did not receive the promises. Yet, they were persuaded – believed that God is the Almighty; embraced – accepted the promises of God; and confessed – they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
While we trust that God will take care of us, we remain vigilant to his promises. The adversary is always present to devour. He will take advantage of a weak moment. Don’t let anything cause you to doubt or to be afraid. Remain patient and persistent before the throne of God. Now is the time to 1) be persuaded about the love of God that is through the life of Christ 2) embrace all of the word of God and (3) confess the need of salvation. In your most difficult moment, God will take care of you.
