Scripture: Ephesians 2:14; Philippians 4:6-8
God has given us so much in our blessed Savior Jesus Christ. He knew that life would include triumphs, trials and unsettling moments. In faith, we learn to trust Jesus for all things. “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us…”
Peace is to trust in the will of God. It is to have a contentment to depend on Jesus for all things. It is a state of mind and heart that comes from having faith in his presence. In exchange of worry, we pray for peace. Jesus Christ is our peace.
While preparing his disciples for his departure, he told them “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you” . The disciples encountered many obstacles which were beyond their own control and understanding. The promise of his peace would carry them through. Jesus remains our sole source of help to any problem. This is why the message of peace is so important to us. It is in faith, that we understand and hold on to peace. The spiritual presence of Christ, in the Holy Spirit, gives us confident that we will be alright.
Peace is a fruit of the spirit and it is an attribute needed to trust in the will of God in the salvation of Christ. In him, we do not worry about anything because we chose to pray. Prayer directs our heart and minds to God. He is greater than our needs, which we make known to him in supplications. When we come boldly to the throne of God, fear or doubt diminishes. Prayer demonstrates belief in the sovereign God. In prayer and supplications, give thanksgiving. Let God know how much you appreciate the privilege to commune with him. Express your joy in the salvation of Christ.
When we have prayed and trusted in your most holy faith, the peace of God will keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. His peace will keep our thoughts on the depth of his goodness. The state of full contentment is only found in Christ.
