Scripture: John 8:12; Ephesians 5:8
The good news is that Jesus is the light of the world. He is an eternal illuminating power of pure righteousness. He came into the world to save man from the spirit of darkness.
Darkness is sin, the very thing opposite of light. Darkness will lead to an eternal death. In spiritual darkness, one is absorb in sin, that he can’t see the error of his way. The light of Christ allows man to see right and wrong, good and bad, Jesus and Satan. The light of Christ allows man to seek for forgiveness and to repent, thus accepting this saving light.
“He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness.” The light of Christ gives us hope in the midst of so much darkness. When we accept him as our Lord and Savior, we will follow him. Christ is all-power, all-knowing and all-good. A life in him will teach us and keep us in the way to live good and righteous.
The only way to understand the depth of sin is to understand the depth of the cross of Christ. The cross gives a strong statement that no sin is acceptable to God. The only way to destroy sin was for the death of a perfect man. Jesus is the only way to restore man in the presence of God. “Jesus saith, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” We must know Jesus.
There are no more excuses to live in darkness. The death and resurrection of Christ provided the remission of sins. It is in him that we become new creatures. Followers of Christ are light in the Lord. His light is not hidden, but it shines and guides us. In the light of Christ, we are protected from darkness. His light is the greater source of power. Truth shall always prevail over lies. The truth is God and Christ.
We are now to walk as children of light. Walk in this marvelous light, that will never dim or fade away. A light that will lead to an eternal bright life in heaven with the Father and Jesus Christ the light of the world. Rejoice!
