Sermon Take Away: “Let Jesus Abide in You”

Scripture: John 15 & 14; Matthew 7:7

Everyday we hear about so much trouble in our families, communities and the world. As bad as things are, we still have a present help and eternal hope in Jesus Christ. A relationship with him makes things happen. When Christ walked among people, he wanted people to know love. The parable of the true vine tells us about the relationship of Christ with followers. The true vine is Christ, the branches is the church and the husbandman is God, our Creator of all things. Teaching and living the gospel keeps us connected to Christ.

The fruit that we bear comes from the light that dwells in us. The only way to have this light is to open up your heart and let him come in. In Christ, there is love because God is love. Just think how much better the world would be, if all had the love of God. That is just how much Jesus wants to be with us.

We need Christ to change us and to do all things. We want God to know us. Bring Christ into your life. The disciples were able to do the work of the ministry because they had Jesus dwelling within. Christ dwelling within is a testimony to someone who needs hope. All we can give them is Jesus Christ. He can help them in troubles, depression and in all needs.

Love is the central themes in the word of God. In the ten commandments, the first four command us to love God and the last six command us to love each other. The very opposite of what the world is going through today. Jesus remains the answer for today.

Christ in you is the fulfillment of joy. Joy is to have inner contentment regardless of your situations. Joy comes from our faith. Faith is exercised when you believe as Jesus said, “ask and you shall received, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened.” In Christ, we can believe that he “will do it”.

In our growing relationship with Christ, we learn, study, apply his word. To learn is an introduction, to study is to search for scripture understanding and to apply is the word in you. Christ abiding in you, is your way to eternal life. You have accepted him as your personal savior and trust in him for the forgiveness of your sins. He is the Lord of your life.

In conclusion, the Apostle Paul gave testimony to his closeness with Christ. He wrote “I am crucify with Christ.” He understood that Christ was crucified for him. “Yet not I, but Christ liveth in him”. Paul denied himself and allowed Christ to do the work in him. Paul wanted to be just that close to Christ, that he took on his crucifixion. He denied himself and allowed Christ to do the work in him. Christ wants to be closer to you. Make it your testimony that you are crucified with Christ and he abides in you.
