We must always know that God wants to be with us. His love is so deep and giving as it was demonstrated when he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ. Our connection to the Father is in the faith of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus showed his love in obedience to the Father when he laid down his life for the sins of the world. In Christ final days, he instituted three ordinances that keeps us in unity with him and the Father.
The first ordinance of the New Testament is baptism. Baptism is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. The believer emerges in water and by faith in Christ, his Savior, his sins are forgiven. The second ordnance of the New Testament is Feet Washing. This is needed for our cleaning from daily sins and keeps us aware that we are servants to each other. The third ordinance of the New Testament is Holy Communion. It follows the Feet Washing. Before we partake of the Communion it is very important to self-examine. The communion is symbolic of the body and blood of Christ for the remission of ours sins. He commanded that we do this often in remembrance of him. How often is established by the administration of individual church ministries. Feet Washing and Holy Communion is known as the Communion Service. It is very seldom and joyful occasion to celebrate the death, life and resurrection of our Savior.
In these three spiritual services, Christ tells us that he wants to be with us. We are drawn to the presence of Christ. Regarding baptism, Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Regarding feet washing, Jesus said, “if ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” The Communion is directly linked to eternal life. Jesus said, “I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
Holy Communion unites us in Christ and with each other. Continue the command to break bread together.
