Sermon Take Away: “Love, Heal and Forgive”

Luke 8:42-48; 2 Peter 3:9

Thank God that Jesus is the epitome of love. He gave his life for the sins of the world, so that we may have peace with God, our heavenly Father. During his ministry, he was the example of love to many people throughout the region of Jerusalem. He is still doing the same work in our lives and throughout this world.

While ministering, there was woman in the crowd of followers of Christ, who had hemorrhage for twelve years. She spent all that she had to get help from physicians, who were not able to cure her. As Jesus, was passing through the crowd, she touched the hem of his garment. He asked who had touched him. He said, “Somebody hath touched me: for I perceived that virtue is gone out of me. He could feel faith and righteousness in the woman. She did not touch his hand or any other part of his body. She showed incredible faith by reaching for the hem, the lower part of his garment.

When she came before Christ, he gave love. He did not make her feel ashamed. “daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole: go in peace.” He was pleased with her act of faith. It was her faith in him that healed of her sickness. To be healed whole included her body, mind and the spirit. At that point, her life became new. If we will just believe!

The power of Christ to love, heal and forgive is in our lives. We love him because he first loved us. While, we were sinners he loved us. That’s why it was so imperative that he die for us. He sees something eternally great in his people. His love is gentle and kind. He heals by his power divine. When we are healed, we are restored to a healthy condition. No matter what the sickness or disease, he has the power over the human body. He forgives because he is compassionate and “not willing that any should perish.” So Christ made himself the way for all to be free from sin.

Today, Christ is still calling for us to believe, to show faith in him. Never take your faith for granted. Continue to ask that your faith be blessed. Just as the woman followed Jesus and was made whole, we must continue to follow him to remain whole. Now, that is good news to talk about.

May God bless us all.
