Scripture: I John 3:1; Colossians 3:1
The inspired word of God tells us just how important we are to him. God loved us so that he gave his only begotten son to save us. Love is the principal subject throughout the bible. The very attribute of God is love. His love is real and enduring. When we learn of his glory, righteousness and holiness, we wonder how can he love us. “Behold, what manner of love the father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God : therefore the world knoweth us not because it knew him not.” By nature we are sinful, disobedient, and faithless. Yet, it was his love that took away all that was contrary to his will. His love was expressed in the sacrifice of Jesus. In him, ours sins are forgiven. It is because of God’s love through Christ, we are called to repent.
Salvation is the most precious gift that we will ever receive. Christ laid down his life, so that our life can be saved from eternal damnation. His death was the ransom for the bondage of sin. Our new life in him is not taken lightly. A life in Christ requires commitment and focus. “If ye then be risen in Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” There will be many distractions, but we must continue to maintain ways that keep us connected with Christ. The love of Christ compels us to remember how precious our life is. As a child of God and joint-heir with Christ, we must keep love in focus.
