Scripture: I John 4; Luke 8:20; Galatians 2:20
What is love? What is the result of love? God’s love. He cares how you feel. He has a profound interest in you. The love of God is unconditional. His mercies endureth forever. His love is pure, righteous, and deep. Our sinful nature and ways do not diminish his love for us. It is his will that we would turn from sin and love him with all of our being.
The Apostle John wrote an epistle of love. In it God is the focal message of what love is. “God is love.” It in through the love of Christ we experience the love of God. There is nothing else that save us. God gave us his all when he gave us his only begotten son, Jesus Christ. Our only hope of redemption is in the love of Jesus. In the love of Christ, we can love others. Love is to be shared throughout the world. In the love of Christ, we will be lifted.
There are indeed so many wonderful things about Jesus. He is wonderful counselor, he is the prince of peace. He is our blessed savior. When he was lifted on the cross, that was love. It is because of his unfailing love for man that he gave his life. He was born to be an example of how to love our Father who is in heaven and how to love each other. On the cross, he endured the false accusations of his own people. He endured the excruciating pains of thorns and spears and his body nailed to the cross. We do not have to carry the burden of sins. We do not have to be separated from God. Let the love of Christ lift you up.
God gave us the commandments to show us love. The commandments tell us what we do when we love. With the profound mercies of God and his divine favor that we received through Jesus, we are given the opportunity to start over gain each day. It is because of Christ that we do not have to remain down, discouraged, and hopeless. His love is greater than anything we can imagine. His love is greater than any thing we will experience in life.
In the storms of life, you are not alone. The disciples experience their need for Christ in the midst of the storm of wind on the lake. They were afraid and cried, “Master, Master, we perish”. Our faith may waiver, as the disciples, but Christ continues to embrace us and gives us love and compassion. When we accept Christ, we are crucified with him. Our life is no longer ours, but Christ because he lives in us by his Spirit. In faith “we live by the faith of the Son of God, who love me, and gave himself for me”. We can’t be selfish in love because God and Christ was not selfish in their love for you and me. Make the crucifixion of Christ personal, “he gave himself for me”. When nothing else can help, Love Lifted Me. Thank God for his enduring love in Jesus Christ.
