The word of God is full of inspiration in regards to patience. Without it we will be paranoid and take matters in our own hands. In a world of evildoers and an adversary, which seeks to destroy, patience is a valuable quality. “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be envious against the workers of iniquity.” We are not to worry or be jealous because of what they do, but seek God for eternal life. Patience makes you breathe, removing the feelings of worry. Stay focused on who you are in Jesus Christ, taking the time to acknowledge him first.
God’s covenant to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is linked to us through Jesus. In him, we are protected from the things that will cause worry and even envy. “Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give you thee the desires of thine heart.” In patience, there is gladness when we tune ourselves into the will of God. He wants us to seek him above all things because he has control of all things. Patience is waiting for God to take action.
In the book of Genesis, Joseph was sold into slavery and he kept his trust in God. He lived a blessed life through all that he endured. He was not angry or disappointed in God. In him was the faith that God knows what is best at all time. That is patience. Of course, Joseph was hurt by the betrayal of his brothers, but he remained with the Lord.
In patience, we never hesitate to seek things from God. He welcomes us to “Ask, and it shall be given unto you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Come before him with your whole heart and commit your ways to him. Commit means is to surrender all to him. Don’t allow any room for the enemy to invade your space. Once you have set your foundation in Christ, he will not suffer your foot to move.
We remember that everything about God is different. His ways and thoughts are not like ours. He never changes. He is always loving, joyous, good, merciful, gracious, and slow to anger. Rest in him, he knows what he is doing. It is commendable to be happy for the accomplishments of others, but no need to envy. What God has for you is for you. He wants our hearts to be at peace and to keep trust in him, the giver of all blessings.
God is patient with us. We know that Christ will return. It seems like he had given us an extended time, so many will be saved. He has no pleasure in the loss of souls. The Apostle Paul understood about keeping a clear mind in patience. “Finally brethren whatsoever is true (Jesus Christ), honest (respect others), just ( fair), pure(real) lovely (beautiful), good report (positive outcomes), if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.” Look at mistakes as a step for something greater. Take time to read and to study about the faithful people in the bible. Their lives remain an inspiration to the church today. God wants the best from us. Don’t allow anything to prevent you from seeing God.
