James 5:15&16; Acts 12: 7-16
Prayer has always been essential in the life of God’s people. It is having a conversation with Him, who has all power and authority. In prayer we honor him, we praise him and we request things of him. To pray becomes natural for his people. James taught of a fervent pray for the sick. Sickness is not contained to the physical body. But sickness is also mental and spiritual. Whether it is physical, mental or spiritual, fervent prayer is needed for healing. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Fervent prayer is to stay before God in unwavering faith. The power of God rests upon you and this is where your confidence remains.
The righteous man does not give up, he stands on the promises of God. He will pray until it happens. It is the response to your request. Request are made know, while he trust in the will of God. To know and understand his word will lead way to know his will. We won’t pray for anything outside of his will. He will fulfill his will as it concerns you. The righteous man prayers “availeth much.” God’s response will exceed our prayer request.
In the book of Acts 12, Peter was arrested for teaching Jesus Christ. The people of God had gathered at Mary’s house to pray for the his deliverance. An angel of the Lord came into his cell, the chains fell off, and he guided Peter outside of the jail. There is nothing that God cannot do. When God begins to move in your life, you may ask yourselves is this real. All the time, God is working behind the scene and he is on the scene.
Do not give up on your prayers. In due time God will answer that prayer. Why you are waiting, God is preparing you for his response. You must remain faithful to him, as he is to you. Peter went to the prayer house, where the saints were praying. The saints were not socializing, they were fervently praying for their brother. Fervent means to be faithful and consistent. “Many were gathered together praying.” The damsel heard his voice at the door. She was filled with gladness and went to tell the others before she opened the door for Peter.
When the Spirit of the Lord, come upon you, you will pray like David prayed. He did wrong before God, but he cried his heart out to God for forgiveness and deliverance. Many of his writings expressed his Godly sorrow and his dependance on God. Don’t answer your own prayer. Patiently wait for him to answer your prayer. “Confess your faults one to another” is to clear anything that maybe between you and others. You don’t want any hinderance in your prayer life. You need to get your prayer through.
In prayer, call out the promises that are meaningful to you. This is how we show God that we believe in his word. At times, you may not be able to verbally express your request. Be assured that he knows your mind, heart and the spirit. He feels your faith in prayer. A fervent prayer life is so beneficial to the life of believers.
