Sermon Take Away: “Rewards From God”

God is so loving that he offers wonderful rewards to those who diligently seek him. His rewards are to give us hope and strength every day as we face the unknown and draw closer to him. He gave us his begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins and provide a clear path in salvation and in righteousness. While Jesus ministered on earth, he gave us exactly what we needed to keep in mind so we can receive God’s promised rewards. Here are brief snippets of who God considers to be blessed and if they endure to the end, not only will they be saved but they will receive God’s rewards.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

>> Being poor in the spirit means to have humility before God. To admit your sins and your faults, and to seek help directly from God. To allow God to mold and shape you into the person he wants you to be. When you allow God to work within your heart, God will give you a mansion in his heavenly kingdom.

Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

>> Mourning means to be grieved in the spirit. When you are faced in a situation or a trial, such as death, health, financial, relationships, or anything that brings you sorrow, you are seek comfort. The only true comfort you can receive and feel renewed with joy, contentment, peace, and strength is from God himself. Eternal life gives the final comfort for those who mourn.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

>> Meekness is one of the fruits of the spirits mentioned in Galatians 5. It is very important to be gentle, patient, submissive, and longsuffering when dealing with people and when you go to Jesus. In everything you do and say, be kind and remember God is watching. He wants to give the new earth to those who seek him and have meekness in their hearts and soul.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be fulfilled.

>> Reading and learning the word is a good thing to do, however it is not enough to please God. You must go beyond and apply the word to yourself, trusting in the wisdom and guidance of Jesus Christ. The word says, he will answer you and your mind, body, heart, and spirit will be fulfilled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

>> These days it is hard to have mercy on people, especially when they’ve done you wrong or they’ve committed a terrible act. However, Jesus wants us to pray, to love, and to help our enemies because God loves them too. If you want God to have mercy on you for your wrongs, then he will be watching you to make sure you return this same sentiment towards others.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

>> Like meekness, being pure in the heart is to always stay optimistic in everything. It is spreading hope, love, and encouragement to those around you. As it is written in Philippians 4:8, think on good things daily so nothing will block our connection and communications with God. Jesus wants us to judge fairly and to care for one another with unwavering compassion because when your heart is pure, God’s reward is to bless you to see him when Jesus returns.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

>> Having a peaceful countenance is similar to the personality of Jesus as he lived on earth. He approached situations and people with peace and made sure they left his presence feeling the same. Just as he walked across the stormy sea and calmed it for the disciples on their boat, we too must do the same. Bring and be the peace that walks into a room. Not only does it calm troubled spirits, but God becomes so pleased with you that he calls you his child.

Blessed are they that are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

>> Jesus taught that servants of God may face death in our journey because of our mission to tell of salvation and spread the gospel. However, like those disciples and prophets before us, God promised to give them the kingdom of heaven. This means eternal life with God and in a world without sin. Hold on to your peace, continue to hunger and thirst after righteousness, and endure to the end. When Jesus resurrected he had defeated death. Your reward is given the moment you accept Jesus into your life.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

>> On this journey, we will face ups and downs. This journey is not an easy one, but when we continue to lean on and to trust Jesus Christ, we must rejoice. Satan wants us to fail and he will try whatever means to accomplish this. But God is victorious and with him we are victorious. The reward for this attribute will be great because you remained with Jesus all the way.

Rejoice and keep on praying. God has already given us these rewards. We only have to do our part and endure to the end.
