Psalm 23; I Corinthians 2:9
The book of Psalm gives the feeling of an assurance and the presence of God. The writers express deliverance, trials, hope, and love during their most difficult times. Psalms is timeless. Written over 3500 years ago, the messages are very true and encouraging to believers today. To know that “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want”, is very real to us today.
A shepherd provides protection, guidance and love to his flock, which are very transparent to the the very image and character of God himself. King David expressed his feeling of comfort with God by using a shepherd metaphorically.
Graciously, God gives us new mercies every morning. He planned the way of salvation through his only begotten Son. He provides our daily needs. Even though we want, we understand that he does satisfy our wants. In him, we are made complete. In times of uncertainty and in the presence of evil, we have no fear because of the confidence that we rest in the hands of God.
In our most pressing moments, we lean on his everlasting arms and are confident that “thou art with me”. Jesus promised that he will never leave us nor forsake us. He is our peace in the midst of our storms. As we connect to this Psalm, there are no doubts that Jesus is all things to us. This Psalm is an expression of the close relationship that we have in Jesus. “Sure goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Our good shepherd blesses us beyond our comprehension. “Eyes have not seen nor ear heard, neither have it entered into the heart of man the things which God have prepared for them that love him.” There is no need to want, when we know that God has all things. His love for us is absolute. May we continue to love, enjoy and appreciate our faith and devotion to him. “Sure goodness and mercy shall follow me all the day of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
We had the pleasure to share this sermon with our brothers and sisters at Autumn Lake Nursing facility. There is no recorded sermon. Please share this message of God’s protection with someone.
May the peace of God the Father be with you and your families.
