Scripture: Philippians 3:10
What does it mean to know Jesus?
To know Jesus is to build and to have a strong relationship with him. To search and to study the Word of God so you could apply it to yourself. To place your whole trust in God to be your provider, your deliverer, your healer, your friend, your guide, and whatever you need Him to be in your life. To know Jesus is to know his desires for you and to know how much he loves you. God loves us so much that he gave his son Jesus Christ to die on a cross to give us a door to salvation. To know Jesus, you must understand why Jesus died for you and how much God despises sin.
Some people would claim they know Jesus, but sometimes it’s on an introduction level. They know ‘about’ him and what he stands for, yet they do not seek to open their hearts to allow him in to mold and to shape them. They do not wish to turn away from their sinful lifestyle to obey God’s laws and commands.
Be like Apostle Paul, who openly admitted countless times throughout his letters to his churches, how he was a sinful man. How he persecuted God’s people and ignored the loving call of Jesus Christ. Paul was saved by Jesus Christ, wanted by Jesus Christ, and realized he was led astray by the devil. Paul repented and became a faithful servant of Jesus and this was done by Paul seeking a relationship with him.
Paul wanted to know Christ to the depths of his heart and his soul.
God loves us so much that he gave us the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God that helps us to understand his Word, to be convicted when we are in the wrong, and to be a guide when we seek direction. Take time every day to nurture the Holy Spirit dwelling within you by praying and communing with Jesus.
Read scriptures in the Bible and stories about other faithful servants of God who depended whole-heartedly on God’s strength. Evil is growing stronger here on Earth, with Satan out to destroy mankind and prevent people from joining God’s family. Satan wants us to refuse building a relationship with Jesus so he can lead us astray.
Get to know Jesus today because tomorrow is not promised. Jesus is knocking on the door to your heart. All you need to do is open it and welcome him in.
Be blessed in the name of Jesus!
