Sermon Take Away: The Greatest Gift is Love

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 13, Romans 8:35-39

Our message for today talked about the greatest gift we as people of God should have. Love. The Word of God tells us that you can have all the knowledge and understanding of the Bible and of Jesus, and have all the faith and believe in Jesus but if you do not have love, it profits you nothing.

It is important that we have God’s love. Not the love defined in the world such as intimacy. We must seek God to cleanse our hearts and mold us to have his agape love. The purified love filled with genuine kindness, compassion, and self-sacrifice.

We, people of God, must do everything out of God’s love and be on the esteem of others. Having a genuine kindness means you respect others and treat others with no discrimination or bias or with the intent of desiring something in return.

Having compassion means we must step into another’s shoes and seek to feel and understand what others are going through. People are going through so much today especially with the pandemic. So take time to relate to people and listen to them. Sometimes people today just seek to be heard. And allowing them the chance to speak their mind can give you a clear picture of what they need from you. The best thing you could ever do for someone is pray for them.

Having self-sacrifice means caring for others and putting self aside to make sure they overcome. Make sure that person is happy and comfortable. Love is very important to God and he wants us to have it and spread it to others.

Apostle Paul states in 1 Corinthians how love bears all things. This means we must bear the pain and the burdens of others to help them and encourage them that at the end there is victory. He also said that Love believeth all things, meaning we must believe and place all our trust in Jesus. Love also hope in all things, meaning we must be optimistic in everything we do and in every situation. God wants us to have positive visions of the future and see that the power of love nurtures and strengthens our faith. The Word says love endureth all things, meaning with the power of love all things are possible. We can overcome and be victorious in the name of Jesus.

So make sure you ask God for his agape love today. It is time we must be serious about our hearts, our minds, and our souls. Facing a world wide deadly virus is a wake up call for everyone to make sure you check yourself. We do not want to come up short and have our works be in vain. Seek the Greatest Gift and help your family, neighbor, friend, or stranger for God and not for yourself.

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” Verse 13.

May God bless you and guide you to all truths. In the name of Jesus.
