Scripture: Luke 23:39-46; Philippians 2:9

♬To God Be the Glory♬ is a very thoughtful song. Glory is profound praise and thanksgiving for his goodness and righteous. His mercies and grace to us are simply magnificent.

While singing the song, my thoughts centered on how do we give God glory, when glory is the reflection of God. We give Him glory when we accept and acknowledge the best gift given to humanity, Jesus Christ. It is through Christ that we are made a peace with God. God in all of infinite wisdom knew our need for an everlasting, permanent foundation to save us. Through his divine will, he gave us his only begotten son.

In the gospel of Luke, we are given a description of what was happening on the cross. Christ was nailed on the cross between two malefactors. The one on the left made light of what Christ could do. The one on the right confessed that they deserved their punishment, but Christ did not. He requested that Christ remember him in his kingdom. Christ told him that he would be with him in paradise. Soon after, Christ cried out, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” Even while on his death cross, Christ continued to give his Father glory.

The best way to give God glory is not in singing, giving or thanking him. The best way to give Him glory is to accept Jesus Christ, his beloved Son. When we accept him, we acknowledge our need for the Savior. We confess that we are sinners in need of forgiveness. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” When we accept him, we acknowledge his will and the need to know his will. When we accept Christ, we accept God. In Christ, we are living to receive the gift of eternal life.

God gave Christ all power in heaven, in earth and under the earth. Christ is our high priest, he takes on our sins and by his blood we are forgiven. Christ is our advocate with the Father. He has direct access to the throne of God.

When we love and trust Christ with all of our heart, mind and strength, when we trust in his salvation and when we accept his presence everyday of our life, we will sing with an exuberate joy To God Be The Glory For The Great Things He Has Done. ♬♬♬
