Romans 8:35-39
God is omniscient, he knows all things. He knew that we would need someone of righteousness and complete authority of all things to save and to protect us from all manner of harm and evil. Jesus Christ, the son of God, is the only one that could fulfill the will of God. In him, is salvation and security. In him, there is triumph in daily life and eternal life.
The Apostle Paul gave a very in-depth teaching of all the things that could separate us from Christ. As he taught the Gentiles of Rome, who were non-Jewish, he expressed the need to be in Christ. Outside of him there is no salvation nor protection from evil. Tribulation is severe trouble; distress a state of extreme necessity; persecution is opposition to religious belief; famine is extreme hunger; nakedness is being without clothing; peril is exposure to injury or loss and sword is a violent attack. The power of salvation is not broken in any of these situations because of the power that is in Jesus. There is only triumph in him, when he is accepted him as our Lord and Savior.
When Christ suffered, bleed and died, he defeated the Enemy in his plan to separate believers from Christ. As bad as all eight troubles are, none are greater than him. “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” What makes us more than a conqueror, is that in our sufferings God still gets the glory. Trust is in Christ, whom God had sent into the world for redemption.
Be persuaded in your mind and heart that nothing will separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Persuasion comes when you pray, study and ask the Holy Spirit for the understanding of God’s love for man, which is fulfilled in Jesus. God, our Father, gave Jesus all power. In him only, there is Triumph!
