Scripture: Proverbs Chapter 3
Trust is a word that is spoken often when it comes to turning things over to God. For believers, it is a natural fluent response to challenging situations and problems. Trust comes up everyday. But do we know what it means to trust in God? How deep does trust go?
T refers to truth. In order to have trust in someone you have to know truth. You have to know something about the person whom you trust in. God and Christ are truth. It is through them that all things were created and given life. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Living through them, we must know them personally. The bible gives us very important details about God and Christ, their love for us and why we need salvation. When the word of God is studied and applied to our lives, we know him personally. Truth is revealed when we have a relationship with God.
R refers to respect . When God is acknowledged, he is respected. “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” The commandments tell us that he is a jealous God. Respect in trust is to honor him with your whole being. In respect, we accept his love that was in the life of Jesus Christ. He sent Christ for the remission of our sins. David and Esther experienced challenges with their enemies. Both chose to take a leap of faith because they trusted in God. They respected him above their own challenges.
U refers to unique. “She is more precious than rubies…” This refers to the wisdom of God. When you speak that you trust in God for all things, you are unique. Because we have accepted his trust, though we have not seen him as one would want, by our faith we believe. We see God in his infinite wisdom. It is through Christ that we become wise in him. In Christ, we have a status changed. Look into your spiritual self to gain more love, joy and faith.
S refers to sincerity. “Trust in the Lord with all tine heart. In sincerity, there is no room for doubt. In believers, his love is carved in stone and not going no where. Focus remains in God and Jesus. A spirit of fervent, constant praying keeps us in tune with trust. David defeated Goliath with one smooth stone. He was confident that God would deliver him. He remained sincere to his God in one of the most threatening situations in his life. He trusted in God. “For the Lord shall be thy confidence.”
T refers to temperate. Temperate is to have moderation. “Be not wise in thy own eyes, fear the Lord, and depart from evil.” In trust, we must have self-control to know our boundaries. Christ has given us his Holy Spirit to teach and to guide our lives. It is by the working of the Holy Spirit, that we understand all things. Accept that it is not you who knows all things. It is God!
There are rewards in trusting God. “So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.“
