Scripture: I Corinthians 15:50-58
The intriguing study of the book of Revelation gives a glimpse of the glorious new Jerusalem. A city filled with peace and harmony. The exuberant power of God’s love will be in his people who shall receive the gift of eternal life. At the end of life’s journey, by his grace, we shall all be changed to live in the eternal presence of God our Father and Jesus our Savior.
Revelation 22 gives very descriptive details of the righteous people with God. Now we are faced with all kinds of challenges. Many believers deal with struggles of good and evil. Being saved does not stop struggles. Being saved protects us from the struggles because we are in the care of Christ. But our righteousness is not a passport to heaven. We must be changed before we get to the glorious city prepared by God. The Apostle Paul wrote “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump“. There will be a supernatural instantaneous change just before we are presented to Christ. Those that die in the grace of God will be raised incorruptible. Those that remain alive will be changed from mortal to immortality.
A complete body change is necessary because our present physical bodies are not worthy to be in the presence of holiness. Our imperfections will be made perfect. Our minds will be changed from our present way of thinking. In our flesh there is a constant need for the forgiveness of God. When we get to heaven there will be no need for forgiveness. When we get there means that we have been forgiven.
Biblical prophecies are given to save us. So much time is spent on interpretations, which is needed. But we must not forget why Jesus gave studies of prophecies. It is given to tell us our need of salvation. We must understand the salvation. When studying prophecies, pray for help of the Holy Spirit. Always, keep in mind that prophecies are given to know the fullness of salvation that is in Jesus Christ alone.
Death is the last enemy that will be destroyed. The resurrection of Christ took away death. His resurrection gives us an hope of life after death. The law of God tells us how to live. But because man cannot life in the strength of the law alone, we thank God “which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ’.
The enlighten view presented in the scriptures gives us a sense of contentment, that we are on the right track. But we must stay on track. Keep in mind that death is not final. There will be a reckoning day for all. We all have to meet God one day. He gives us all a free choice as to how to meet him. Will you be saved or not saved? The glorious glimpse of the new Jerusalem should inspire us to do as the Apostle Paul instructed “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
