Revelation chapter 4 and 5 tell us of unity, holiness, and splendor that is in heaven. In Revelation 4, the twenty four elders and four beast worshipped God the Father who sat on throne. They were in the presence of their loving and all powerful Creator of all good things. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” In chapter 5, God was holding the book with the seven seals. It was time for the seals to be opened. As the strong angel came forth, he could find no one worthy to open the seals. John wept. But an elder spoke “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book…” Who is Worthy?
In the midst of the throne, and the four beast, and the elders, stood the Lamb that was slain. He came forth and took the book out of the hand of him who sat on the throne, who was God. Jesus was the sacrificial lamb that gave his life for the sins of the world. Only he was worthy to open the book which revealed the events that shall occur before his second glorious coming. Christ went through physical and verbal pain, false accusations, and the neglect of his own people to save the world from sin. Being from the very foundation of the earth, with God, he knew that humanity would not survive the evil that will plagued the world by the fallen angel Lucifer.
All of the heavenly host rejoiced at his position and authority to open the book and crowned him with adoration and praise. “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power(over our life), and riches (the best that we can give him), and wisdom (keep him in uttermost thought), and strength (physical strength for his service), and honor(a pure desire to magnify him), and glory (complete adoration), and blessings(all praise for him).”
These two chapters give an assurance that God and Christ will remain in charge of all things, as we approach impending end-time events that will trouble this world more than it already is. The good news is at the end of the open pages of prophecies, Jesus will stand above thousands in his glory, power, righteousness, and love because he is worthy!
