Scripture: John 3:16; Romans 3:23
God is good and his mercy endureth forever. The magnitude of his love is beyond our comprehension. We embrace this knowledge only by his Spirit. He loves us so much that he wants to be with us, in life now and in his glorious kingdom. Sin separates us from him. Sin is to do contrary to the word of God. But he made a way for our redemption in his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Salvation means to save. Man needed to be saved from his sins. If there was no salvation, man would have remained a hopeless living creature. The sin of Adam changed the course of this world forever.
The origin of sin was with Lucifer, a beautiful heavenly angel. Pride entered into him and he wanted Jesus position. When he did not repent, he was cast to the earth with a third of the angels that followed him. God did not destroy them because he is love. In love, all are given a choice. It was important that the remainder of the heavenly host know what love was.
The spirit of the Satan was in the serpent, which led to the sin of man. From the beginning it was God’s will for man to live in peace. He was to enjoy all the beautiful creations that God had made just for him. When God gave Adam specific instructions about which tree to eat, he was giving him a choice. He did not place Adam in the Garden without instructions on how to live. He clearly told Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, “thou shalt not eat of it”.(Genesis 2:17) Adam bears the guilt of that sin, not Eve, because from the beginning man was to take care of all things, his family and all things that God had created. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) This is why we need a Savior!
Salvation is extremely personal. It is a confession of faith that only an individual can make to Jesus. No man, no matter what position he holds in this world, can do for us what Christ has done. When the believer accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he repents from his sinful life and he has direct access to God because of his faith in Jesus. Sin no longer separates us from our heavenly Father. But one must choose for himself. Salvation in Jesus is the core belief of our faith. Jesus died once for all, “entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us”. (Hebrews 9:12)
Throughout the bible, the message is that we need a savior. God remains attentive to the penitent soul. He promised to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquities. He does not force his love on us. He patiently waits to hear us ask “What must I do to be save?”
