Scripture: Joshua 2; Romans 10:9
The faithfulness of God is everlasting. He is omnipotent(all powerful), omniscient (all knowing), and omnipresence (every where). He alone knows our physical and spiritual composition. He knows our every thought.
The bible gives us very important information about the many people of God. There life is written so that we will know that God loves us all in spite of the bad choices that we make. There was no problem to reveal the good and the bad behaviors of the many devoted believers of God. In them, we can experience the love and forgiveness from God. In them, we see the deepness of God’s love. In the book of Joshua, the faithful acts of Rahab are written. People like Rahab who lived a lifestyle opposite of what God commands us, are examples of the mercies of God.
Joshua sent two spies to Jericho to scope out the people in the city. Rahab had heard about the Israelites and their claim to the land of Jericho. She had heard about the wonders of God and how he delivered them from the hands of Egyptians. It was through hearing that her conversion took place.
When the spies came, she hid them on her roof. When the king’s men questioned her, she denied having any knowledge of the spies. Willing to serve applies to the life of Rahab. God know us. He knows our thoughts. He knows what we are going to do next. He knows our weaknesses and strengths. He knows what we are capable of doing. Yet, he does not force his good on us.
God’s ways are above human comprehension. We learn to accept him and trust that he knows what is best. In Rahab’s decision to hide the spies and not report them, she made a statement that she was on the Lord’s side. The spies did not force themselves in her home, she welcomed them.
Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God have raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” In Rahab, we see a sinner make a conversion to become a woman of God. One must not allow his wrongs to keep him separated from the Jesus Christ who can help him. Accepting him is our only way of deliverance. By his power he will forgive and will direct lives to a righteous living, according to the will of God.
The faithfulness of Rahab carried through to the genealogy of Christ. Her acts of faith are written in the book of Hebrews. In her there was a boldness to stand for God. In doing so, she was willing to serve his people. Her testimony gives hopes to sinners of every kind. The redemption power of Christ is calling men, women , and children to repent. Every morning is an opportunity for someone to admit their need for salvation in Christ Jesus.
