Sermon Take Away: “Wisdom From Above”

James 1:5; 3:13-17; Psalms 111:10

God the Father welcomes us to ask him for anything. It is his pleasure to take care of us. As we get to know him, we grow in his wisdom. His wisdom is right, just and will direct in the best choices. The wisdom from men will navigate to self pleasure, dismissing the will of God.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally; ad upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” God freely gives wisdom and it is not undone. It directs us to live and walk in the path of righteousness. In his wisdom, there remains a connection to his law of love. Our hearts and mind must be open to hear him. His Spirit helps us to trust in the Lord and lean not to our own understanding. Many are walking bones with no purpose, not taking care of self and others because the spirit of the Lord is lacking in their life. We live through God, our Creator.

Wisdom keeps us in conversation with God. It affects us personally because we seek for guidance and understanding in all things. He knows all things and always wants the best for us. As Solomon begin to reign as king of Israel, God asked him what did he want. He did not ask to be the best king. Instead he asked for wisdom to lead God’s great people. He was aware of his own weakness and did not want to rely on his decision making. He knew that wisdom from above was far greater. His request was granted and he was the wisest man to ever live.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Fear is to acknowledge his presence in all things. Sin comes from the heart. If we fear God, the conscience is awakens and we will know that which is wrong.

As we grow in our relationship with the Father through the love of Christ, we will trust him to guide our decisions. “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceably, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and god fruit, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” This is the kind of wisdom to ask and seek for daily.
