Sermon Take Away: “Work On The Inside”

Scripture: I Samuel 16:7; Psalm 51; Jeremiah 17:9,10

God does not look at the outer appearance of man. His concern is how we really are. The heart is the character of a man. It is in our heart that we cherish love and faith in the presence of God Almighty. When Samuel sought for the man who was to replace Saul, he was not to look at his countenance or his height, but “for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looked on the heart”.

Daily asked for a clean heart, which is acceptable to God. No man can clean himself. We need Christ for the forgiveness of our sins and for the spirit of repentance. When we allow the Lord to work in the inside, remorse will cause us to seek the Lord with all of our being.

When we surrender all, the deep soul cleaning will occur. Ask God to clean your heart of anything that will separate you from him. The bible teaches that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of this doings.” God knew that David loved him. It is so overwhelming to know that God knows our most private thoughts. He knows everything about us. We can’t hide nothing from him. He patiently waits to hear from you.

Guilt will keep us from serving each other and from the joy of the Lord. The Holy Spirit is given to convict us of our wrongs and to direct how heart and mind back to the salvation of God. One of the many joys of salvation, is that Christ died to take away our guilt. Never allow the enemy to subject you to guilt. Know that you are welcomed, just as David, to call on the mercies of God.
