Sermon Take Away: Your Keeper

Scriptures: Psalm 121; Matthew 7:7 & 8, Deuteronomy 31:6-8, Isaiah 54:7

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” Psalm 121:1

Did you know you have a keeper? Yes, you do. God he is your keeper. David, the writer of this Psalm, was a man after God’s own heart because he understood the depth of God’s love for his people. He understood that the mercies of God are innumerable. He understood that God will always be with us. Psalm 121 expresses David’s devotion and love to God. Written in figurative language, David looked up to where God is. God is above. God sits on his heavenly throne and he remains in control of this earth. The words of David are very much alive in our lives. We all need the help of the Lord. We have the presence of God and Jesus at all times. Our attention is to look up always.

In the gospel of Matthew 7:7,8, Jesus instructs us to ask, seek and knock. We must stay before the Lord. We must never give up on his promises. True, God knows our thoughts. He knows all about us. But when we pray to him, when we look up to him, we acknowledge that he is above all. He is our present help for all things. We must pray and praise him for our physical, mental, financial and all manners that pertain to life. Especially important to stay before him for our spiritual growth. The acceptance of Christ as our personal savior is just the beginning. We must seek his companion, guidance, and salvation everyday. We must not take these promises for granted. Ask, seek and knock for wisdom, which is common sense to deal with life, the way that Christ would want us too. Many are ashamed to admit their need for help. Jesus was our example for us to live today. In the scriptures, we learn how he communicated with people and how he kept his focused on his heavenly Father.

Our trials in life are given so that we may know that God is able to take us through. He gave us joy when he gave us Christ. During this pandemic stress, have assurance that God remains in control. He shall preserve us from all evil. People turn from God. He does not turn from us. In Deuteronomy 31:6-8, we are encouraged to be strong and be of a good courage. No need to fear. God has the power. Troubles teach us that God is above all things. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Through his people, those who do not believe can witness the power that is truly from looking above. Look to Your Keeper.

Thank God for keeping you everyday. He see and knows everything. It is so important that we keep this in mind during this time and in the future. In Isaiah 54:7, while you will experience troubles, his mercies will take you through. Take time to be with God. Let him know your thoughts.

Your Keeper has given us his Holy Spirit to dwell in your holy temple, in your heart. The devil wants us to feel like we have to get the handle of situations alone. Trust in your faith that God will always be there. He is not going anywhere. You can depend on Your Keeper, God.
