SERMON TAKEAWAY: Faith Brings Perfect Peace

Hebrews 11; Matthew 14:29; Ephesians 6:16

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hope is expectations of good or positive outcomes that God will make happen. But there are times when things happen to attempt to disturb our faith. It is in those times when faith brings perfect peace.

In the book of Hebrews, the elders had obtained good reports because of their faith. Abel gave God his best. Enoch did not see death. As a result, their faith was rewarded with the goodness of God. The size of faith should not be a determent. In the gospel of Matthew 17:20, the disciples could not rebuke the devil out of the child because of their unbelief. Mustard seeds are one of the smallest seeds which grows into a beautiful tree. With just a little faith, we can conqueror great things. No matter what size or level of faith one may have, it is God that does the work. But you must believe.

Faith invites God's Holy Spirit to live in you. Doubt grieves the Holy Spirit. Remember that God is in control, he has the final say. Eutychus, while listening to Paul, became weary and fell to his death. Apostle Paul commanded life in Eutychus and he lived. Faith in action ignites the power of God. Acts 20:9

Salvation in Jesus is not a race. Faith is not to be compared with others. We must look to God. Perfect peace is given when you don't worry, but pray and make requests to God. Perfect peace is influenced by the word of God. When we keep thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, and good we nurture our spirit. Good thoughts bring perfect peace.

In the gospel of Matthew 14:31, Peter attempted to walk on the sea. The boisterous wind distracted him and he took his eyes off of Jesus. But he knew to cry "Lord save me". In times of trouble, its not that you don't have faith. You need to get rid of the distractions that can dampen what you believe. It is during those times, that faith brings perfect peace.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Faith is important. Remain steadfast in Jesus Christ when doubt swells up. He promised to take care of us. In him faith brings perfect peace.
